Mahatma Gandhi's bust in Italy vandalised by Khalistani extremists

A bust of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised in Italy by Khalistani extremists on Wednesday just hours after its inauguration. The accused also wrote controversial slogans related to slain Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar at the base of the bust.

After the incident, the local authorities said that the area was cleaned up in "record time".

The incident happened a day before the G7 Summit in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate.

The 50th G7 Summit will be held in the luxury resort of Borgo Egnazia in Italy's Apulia region from June 13 to 15. According to Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, PM Modi will be travelling to Italy's Apulia tomorrow to participate in the summit at the invite of Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Speaking about the incident, Foreign Secretary Kwatra said that the Indian authorities raised the matter of Mahatma Gandhi's status being vandalised before Italian officials.

"Taken up the issue of vandalisation of Mahatma Gandhi's statue with the Italian authorities. Necessary action has been taken," he said, while speaking to the media on Wednesday.

Earlier last year, in a similar incident, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised at a university campus in Canada's British Columbia province by Khalistan extremists.

India's Predicted XI vs USA: Rohit Sharma's 2 Changes; Jadeja, Dube Out?

India will be squaring off against co-hosts and debutants USA for their next T20 World Cup 2024, Group A match on Wednesday in New York. After pulling-off a stunning victory against Pakistan in a low-scoring thriller, Rohit Sharma and co would be eager to add another win to their brilliant World Cup campaign. On the other hand, USA, who are making their first appearance in the T20 World Cup, left everyone utterly impressed with a surprising Super Over win over Pakistan. The Monank Patel-led side, which is filled with some former Indian players, will look to put up a good show against the might India.

T20 Worldcup 2024, IND vs USA, Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube in action

In the first two games, India's weakest link was Shivam Dube. The Chennai Super Kings' most valued 'Impact Player' is finding it tough on two-paced tracks where the ball is gripping and coming late onto the bat.

But unlike tactician-par-excellence MS Dhoni, who could bench him during CSK's bowling in the IPL, national skipper Rohit Sharma doesn't have such luxury and needs to hide him in areas of the field where the ball is expected to travel less.

Dube is a monstrous hitter of spinners on good flat decks and his military medium seam-up stuff does give the Indian skipper cushion to manoeuvre with the bowling combination.

But in a format like T20, the team management, which asked for Dube at the expense of Rinku Singh, would want him to come good.

Else, there is Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 15, who is a way more rounded batter than the big-bodied Mumbaikar.

Two wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, should be given some game time or else they might just enter the Super Eights a bit undercooked in the Caribbean where the pitches will be more spin-friendly.

2 Terrorists Killed In Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Kathua

The two terrorists who had opened fire in a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua late last night have been killed in an encounter. A paramilitary soldier was also killed in action during the exchange of fire.

Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir

Two encounters that began overnight in Jammu had dragged into the morning. This included one in Doda where five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) were injured in an attack on an army post.

Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, who is supervising the anti-terrorist ops in Kathua, shared details of the encounters earlier this morning.

On the Doda incident, he said terrorists opened fire at a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala area late last night. An encounter is underway between the security forces and the terrorists in the higher reaches, he said.

The police said two terrorists were involved in the Kathua attack last evening and one of them was killed last night. The second terrorist, armed with an US-made M4 carbine assault rifle, was holed up in the forested region and was eliminated this morning.

The terrorists had asked for water from several houses, raising villagers' suspicions, and opened fire when some villagers raised an alarm, the police said. One civilian was injured in the firing, clarified Mr Jain and denied reports that three people died in the Kathua attack.

There are rumours that many people are injured and three are dead. But only one civilian was injured, other than this all information regarding hostages being held and death, are rumours," he said.

The security force personnel who was killed during the encounter belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

ADGP Jain also called the Kathua attack a "fresh infiltration" and pointed at Pakistan without naming the country. "It is our hostile neighbour who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country. This (Hiranagar Terror attack) appears to be a fresh infiltration," he said.

Jammu has been high on the terror radar with these attacks being reported from areas known to be free of terrorism.

Two days earlier, a bus on its way to the Shiv Khori cave temple came under attack in Reasi. The terrorists opened fire after the bus driver refused to deboard the passengers, but lost control and fell into the gorge, the bus company's manager said. Nine people were killed and 33 injured in the incident. The attack was carried out on the directions of Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza, officials said.

Elon Musk Had Sex With SpaceX Intern, Asked Woman To Have His Babies, Claims Report

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been accused of having sexual relationships with two of his employees, including an intern, and asking another employee to have his babies, a report has revealed.

Elon Musk, SpaceX, elon musk sexual harassment claims
Elon musk sexual harassment

In an exclusive report, the Wall Street Journal said the tech billionaire created a culture in his companies - both SpaceX and Tesla - which made the women employees uncomfortable.

This is the latest in a series of allegations against Mr Musk, who has previously been accused of regularly using drugs like LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, mushrooms and ketamine, at times at work with board members.

Earlier, the SpaceX chief was accused of nurturing a "hostile work environment" where jokes about sexual harassment were common, women were paid less than men and workers who complained were dismissed. In their complaints, former employees accused him of creating a sexist culture at the workplace, where sexual comments and other forms of harassment were tolerated or made light of.

The Wall Street Journal report cited women employees at Tesla who claimed that they were shown “an unusual amount of attention or pursued” by Mr Musk. A SpaceX flight attendant had alleged that Mr Musk exposed himself to her and offered to buy her a horse in exchange for sex in 2016.

Another woman, who resigned from SpaceX in 2013, alleged that Mr Musk had asked her to have his babies, on multiple occasions. The billionaire, who has at least 10 children, has said that the world faces an underpopulation crisis and people with high IQs should procreate.

The report also claimed that a woman who worked at SpaceX received repeated invitations from Elon Musk to come to his house at night. The following details the text exchange between the two:

Elon Musk: “Come by!Look, it's either me or 6am [exercise] :)”

Elon Musk: “Just finished the Model 3 production call. It's def going to be hell for several more months.”

Elon Musk: “Are you coming over? If not, I will probably tranq out. Too stressed to sleep naturally.”

Elon Musk: “Probably best if we don't see each other.”

The next morning, the woman texted Mr Musk saying, “Oh man. I'm sorry, I'd already fallen asleep. I've been a late night person most of my life but have been trying to switch over because it seems responsible. Tbh. Sorry I crashed last night."

SpaceX and Mr Musk's lawyers have rubbished the report claiming the information presented in it is full of "untruths". "The untruths, mischaracterizations, and revisionist history in your email paint a completely misleading narrative. I continue to be amazed by what this extraordinary group of people are achieving every day even amidst all the forces acting against us. And Elon is one of the best humans I know," Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's president and chief operating officer, said.

My story began at the age of nine when my father told me, ‘Life is on an incline, you either go up or you come down,’ and my mother said, 'You shall be a giver and not a receiver.' These statements remained my guiding principles. As we aim to release this film in the 50th International Year of the Woman, this will be an Indian woman’s story representing our great nation internationally.”

Dr. Bedi emphasised that the film is for all generations and across professions, embodying the spirit of 'work as worship' and the 'Karamyogi' spirit from spiritual teachings.

Kushaal Chawla, the creative force behind the film, shared his passion for the project: “This film is a labour of love. Four years of extensive research and scriptwriting have been dedicated to ensuring an authentic and insightful portrayal of Dr Kiran Bedi, India’s most beloved and iconic cop. It is an honor and privilege to write and direct a film about the unique life of Dr Kiran Bedi. She has been a tremendous inspiration to me, and having her trust to direct this film is truly a blessing."

Chawla added, “In this feature film, I explore heartwarming transformations, unseen triumphs, and the extraordinary personal and professional journey of Dr. Bedi as she navigated her path as the first woman in the male-dominated world of policing. I believe the audience will truly get to know the woman behind the khaki, and be inspired and moved by her unwavering dedication and relentless navigation.”

*BEDI: The Name You Know. The Story You Don't* promises to be an inspirational narrative. It will showcase the real Dr. Kiran Bedi, a woman who broke barriers and continues to inspire. The film will highlight her collaborative leadership style, emphasising how she led others to grow and thrive. UP Election Twist Possible as 6 INDIA Bloc MPs Face Conviction

At least six newly elected MPs of the INDIA bloc and one more, are facing criminal charges which could attract a jail term of more than two years.

If this happens, these MPs stand the risk of losing their membership to Parliament.

Afzal Ansari, who has won the Ghazipur seat, has already been convicted to a four-year sentence in a Gangster Act case. His conviction was stayed by the Allahabad High Court last month and this allowed him to contest the polls. Hearing in the matter is scheduled for July when the court reopens after summer vacations.

If the court finally upholds the conviction, Ansari will lose his Lok Sabha membership.

Dharmendra Yadav, who won the Azamgarh seat, also has four cases pending against his name and if he gets convicted for more than two years, he may also lose his membership.

Babu Singh Kushwaha, who won the Jaunpur seat ending his 10-year-exile in politics, is facing several cases related to the NRHM scam that took place in the Mayawati regime where he was a minister. Charges have been framed in eight of the 25 cases filed against him.

Rambhual Nishad, who won the Sultanpur seat by defeating BJP's Maneka Gandhi, has eight cases registered against him, including one under the Gangsters Act. He is also among the 'vulnerable' winners of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Virendra Singh who defeated former minister Mahendra Nath Pandey from Chandauli Lok Sabha seat, is another SP candidate facing criminal cases. His conviction could also bring bad news for him.

Eight cases are registered against Imran Masood of Congress who won the Saharanpur seat. The cases include one related to money laundering by the ED. Charges have been framed against him in two cases.

The seventh candidate Chandra Shekhar Azad of Azad Samaj Party, who won the Nagina reserved seat, has over 30 cases registered against him. If he gets a conviction of more than two years in any one of the cases, his political career would be adversely impacted.

It is significant to note that several political leaders have lost their membership after getting convicted in criminal cases.

Prominent among them are Mohd Azam Khan, his son Abdullah Azam of SP, Khaboo Tiwari, Vikram Saini, Ram Dular Gond, Kuldeep Sengar and Ashok Chandel -- all of BJP.

Video Shows Ticketless Passengers Crowding Vande Bharat Express, Railways Clarifies

Photos and videos of ticketless passengers travelling in reserved coaches of trains are increasingly being shared on social media. This issue is causing significant inconvenience and frustration for passengers who pay for reservations in advance. Recently, Vande Bharat Express, known for its premium service, was also seen overcrowded with ticketless passengers.

The undated video, shared by Archit Nagar, captured the chaotic scene inside a coach of the Vande Bharat Express, running between Lucknow and Dehradun. In the clips, passengers are seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the aisles, and there is very little space to move.

The official X account of Northern Railway responded to the viral video an clarified that it's an old clip. They wrote, ''This is an old video of an incident which occurred when some farmers forcibly boarded the train, but they were later deboarded.''

However, several internet users expressed their anger and frustration at the situation and demanded stricter rules from authorities. Many users urged the government to increase the number of passenger trains while some asked for the implementation of the metro's ticketing and verification system at all railway stations.

One user wrote, ''Please increase the number of passenger trains. Vande Bharat aise nahi chalega. Looks like an overcrowded bus.''

Another commented, ''First, Vande Bharat train system must have dedicated special Railway Police. What is the purpose of buying tickets worth thousands?'' A third said, ''We need more trains; a lot more trains; and affordable trains. How do we expect people to travel?''

A fourth added, ''I hope Ashwini Vaishnaw will take cognizance of this mismanagement. This ticket-less travelling is getting more common in many trains and now its reached a premium train like Vande Bharat Express.''

The Vande Bharat train is an indigenously manufactured, semi-high speed and self-propelled train set. The train is equipped with state-of-the-art passenger amenities, providing a much faster, more comfortable, and more convenient travel experience for railway passengers.
